February 17, 2018 - Night Ski and Apres Ski Party

The Clearwater SKi Club presents an epic night ski and apres ski party! Complete skiing under the stars and with authentic Swiss style fondue and a DJ to get the party going, it's a night you won't want to miss!

Starts at 5:30PM at the Clearwater Ski Hill.
$40 for Lift Ticket, Fondue & Party. $25 for Fondue & Party, or $15 for lift ticket only.
5:30 Lift Opens. 7-9PM Delicious Apres Ski food. 9PM - Late DJ, Dancing and Party!
Cash bar will be open all evening.



February 24, 2018 - Skijoring Presented by the Wells Gray Riders Association

What do you get when you combine fast horses and skiis? Well, skijoring or course! Come on out and hop on your horse, or bring some skis for the Wells Gray Riders Association's local Skijoring in beautiful Clearwater, BC!

11am-3pm. On the Clearwater River Road near Camp 2 road. $25 per team to enter. Spectators are FREE!

March 3, 2018 - Snowmobile Drag Races and Snowmobile Freestyle Show

The Turcotte Compound is hosting Snowmobile Drag Races and a Snowmobile Freestyle show Charity Event In Beautiful Clearwater B.C! The Event will take place in The Field beside the Raft River Elementary School, both the school and Clearwater Redi-Mix has donated weekend use for the event!!

All proceeds raised from the event will go to The B.C Snowmobile Federation and The British Columbia Lions Club Society Easter Seals fundraiser for Children with disabilities!
This event will be presented by X-Games Silver Medalist Brett Turcotte along with the help of The Clearwater Sno-Drifters!

January 28, 2018 -  Rotary Ice Man Fishing Derby at Dutch Lake

Join us for a wonderful event on Dutch Lake with views of Trophy and Raft Mountain. Cash prizes for the three biggest fish caught that day! It's fun for all the family with a barbecue, prizes and free ice fishing lessons given by BC Fisheries Societies for anyone new to the sport or needing to brush up their skills. Free fishing rods and holes will be available for children who wish to try at no cost!

Event time: 9AM-12:00PM, Registration is $20 per participant. All proceeds go towards supporting student bursaries and student international exchanges.

Candle Creek Moonlit Ski - January 30, 2018 & February 6, 2018

Join community members at the Candle Creek Trail System for a moonlit snowshoe or x-country ski. Just on the cusp of a rare Supermoon, Blue Moon and Lunar Eclipse, enjoy this unique outing and get to know the locals over treats and hot chocolate over a bonfire.

Event begins at 7PM. Free for Wells Gray Outdoors Club Member. Non-members pay $10.00 fee for trail use. Bring an appy for after the activity. Prizes for most outrageous hat or scarf.
Beginners and advanced welcome.
Participants should bring a headlamp and dress for conditions.
(Dessert and Hot Chocolate sponsored by Tourism Wells Gray & the Bear's Den Cookhouse. S'mores sponsored by the Jasper Way Inn).



Will Gadd: An Evening with the Ice Climbing Legend! February 1, 2018

Join us for a special evening where you have the opportunity to meet and listen to Ice Climbing Legend - Will Gadd! Doors open at 6:30pm. Event begins at 7PM. Entry by donation and cash bar will be open. All funds raised by this event will help to keep the Ski Hill open.

Professional Ice Climber, Gadd was the first to climb frozen Helmcken Falls (the hardest mixed-climb in the world!) A multi-sport athlete, Gadd has set and broken world records.

Come and listen to Will talk about his experience and motivations for accomplishing some of the most difficult feats known to man-kind. Will has kindly and generously donated his time to benefit our community and volunteer run Clearwater Ski Hill which is an important place for encouraging our youth to get out into the outdoors! All funds raised by this event will help keep the Ski Hill open.

This event is being organized by Tourism Wells Gray and the Clearwater Ski Hill.

2018 Birchleg, A Nordic Ski Fun Race! February 3, 2018

The Birch Leg, similar to the Birkebeiner, is an annual ski event re-enacting a cross-country ski trip made by two Viking warriors in the 13th Century. This race is suitable for all levels of cross-country skiing and is a family-friendly activity. 

Mass start at 10am with finishing times between 11am-2pm. Prizes for best costume and registration fee includes a hot, traditional Norweigan lunch is included with your registration. Learn more about this Wells Gray Outdoors Club event and register in advance of the race here. Get into the Viking Spirit in hit the awesome trails with locals.

The event takes place at the meticulously groomed Candle Creek Trail System just outside of Clearwater.

Month of April 2018 - Lambing at the Historic Aveley Ranch

Established in 1913, this is the oldest and largest family run sheep ranch in British Columbia!

Every April you and your family can visit the ranch for tours, hayrides and a chance to hold and feed the baby lambs as they are born. Only $10 per person and children under 2 are free. 11am - 4pm every day in April. For more information see: http://www.aveleyranch.com/index.htm




Late April 2018 - Simpcw First Nation Annual Powwow

The last weekend in April the Simpcw First Nation hosts their annual Powwow. Dancers and participants from
First Nations across Canada and the United States journey to Chu Chua to take part in this celebration that honours young women. All are invited to attend this remarkable event.


May Day Parade  - May 19, 2018

Come and join the locals to celebrate the arrival of spring sunshine in the annual "May day" parade in Clearwater, it takes place on the Saturday of the May long weekend at starts at 11am, plenty of parking is available and the Rotary Club provides a BBQ after the parade has finished.

June 23 & 24, 2018 - Summer Solstice Disc Golf Tournament 

The Summer Solstice Tournament will be held at the Wells Gray Golf & RV Resort.
The tournament this year will be a 2 day event, with 36 holes on Saturday and 18 holes Sunday morning. Tentatively there will be a final 9 for all divisions that have 6 or more players.
Also tentatively, carts will be used this year for the Master + age categories.

Canada Day Celebrations
- July 1, 2018

Come and enjoy our Canada Day celebrations in the Canada you Imagined! It brings the entire community together at Dutch Lake Beach to join in the fun. 

There is a BBQ (by donation), face painting, horse display team, canoeing, zumba, and games on the beach.  There will be lots of ice cream and fresh watermelon to keep you cool.

Summer Thursday Night Concert Series - July and August 2018

Every Thursday night during July and August enjoy free outdoor music concerts brought to you by the North Thompson Music Guild. These free concerts are a family friendly event and take place from 7-9 pm in Clearwater. Concessions and activities will be available. Bring a chair or blanket and enjoy music underneath the Clearwater skies! Location: Dutch Lake Community Centre Park.



Stargazing Nights - Wednesday Nights July and August

The Dark Skies of Clearwater and Wells Gray make a perfect setting for seeing stars and the Milky Way! Join us Wednesday night at the Wells Gray Air airstrip in Clearwater for this free event, by donation. Concession available.



Clearwater Farmers Market and Elks Breakfast- May to October 2017

Every Saturday from 9am-12pm, there is a Farmer's Market featuring local produce, baked goods, crafts and demonstrations. Located on the lawn of Interior Whitewater Expeditions, the market is the perfect place to pick-up artisan food and gifts. Hungry? Come early for a traditional Canadian breakfast hosted by the local Elks Association. Clearwater Children's Arts Festival- August 8, 2018

With music performances, ten hands-on art stations, drumming and dramatic performances, this year's festival has so much to keep your child happy and engaged. Did we mention, it's free! August 3rd, 10am-3pm at the Dutch Lake Community Centre Field in Clearwater, BC. The festival is organized by the North Thompson Arts Council.



Stand Up Paddle Boarding Lessons - Summer 2018

Have you ever wanted to try Stand Up Paddle Boarding? Come down to Dutch Lake in Clearwater BC during July for a beginner lesson, with all equipment provided.

Clearwater Kayak Festival- July 13 to 15, 2018

The Clearwater River is full of epic whitewater and rapids making it every kayaker's dream! Paddle and party on BC best whitewater.

Kayak races, prizes, auctions, great food, music and camping all included with your registration. Spectators are welcome to join in the celebration! Learn more about this great event here.




First Fish Ceremony- Late August 2018

Discover deep-rooted traditions, sample delicious first nation fare and learn intricate games of chance, as you celebrate the annual return of salmon to the Raft River.  Experience it all every August when the rivers start running red…with salmon.

The event is held at the Raft River Viewing Platform in Clearwater. On this day, Simcpw invites guests to participate in several activities that highlight Simcpw’s culture and history, including pit cooking, sockeye salmon viewing, storytelling and a traditional game called Lehal. Thank you to the Simpcw First Nation for hosting this event.



Canoe Regatta -  September 8, 2018

Join our community for an afternoon of canoe, raft, and kayaking games and races at Dutch Lake. Take part in the fun and games or enjoy being a spectator. Games, entertainment and crafts on the beach. All ages are welcome. Stay for the weekend and enjoy the Serenity Music Harvest Festival (below) as past of your weekend getaway.



Serenity Harvest Music Festival- September 7-9, 2018

Serenity Music is the premiere hub for live music acts all year long in the Canada you Imagined. Located in the nearby hamlet of Birch Island (just 15 minutes from Clearwater, BC) this three-day music festival features indoor and outdoor stages, and free camping with your concert ticket.
